PhotoART Gallery

Transforming photos into paintings is a lot of fun for me! I play with my toys—Painter, Photoshop and more to create a whole new piece of art! If you're interested in commissioning me to transfer a photo of yours to a painting, you're welcome to email me with specifics. I'll respond to you within 24 hours! In the meantime, view the gallery below (also most of these are in the main gallery as well)!

A Boy and His Best Friend
One of my best friends asked me to make her photo of her son and their dog, Jake, into a painting that she could always remember Jake by. You see, their beloved pet has been very ill lately, but we have high hopes that "Jakey-boy" will be with us for more years! This was taken at the beach and she gave me three different poses to choose from. I choose this one because it was a better close up.

They looked like they were having so much fun and I wanted to capture more of them in this piece than the surroundings. I made this a watercolor texture with a bit of mixed media throughout the houses in the background.

Flowers in Vase and Teacup
I was fooling around one day working on Fine Art collection and took a photo of these flowers inside my vase with the matching teacup. I love the colors and I was thrilled that the photo lent itself well to transformation and so I went to work. I added some other filters to it and here's the finished piece!

Candlelit Window
I started out with the photo, but then added watercolor effects and also the plastic wrap filter in Photoshop to really simulate a glass look. If you stare at the window it might look like a rainy day outside.

The candle simulates to me that it is serene and quiet in the room. Maybe someone is waiting up for lost loved one. Perhaps the dog or cat ran away and the candle lit will help them find their way home. But whatever you see or perceive, I think as long as you can let your imagination create the story for you, I've done my job as the artist.

Boats in the Harbour
From the photo, I transformed it into watercolor painting. It depicts my love for being near water. We live next to a large river that spans over the entire city.

We see boats and fishermen all the time and sometimes even dolphins roam ouir waters. I like to go downtown to the pier and stand over the river on a bright cloudy day and just watch the waves soar and the birds fly over the waters. It seems so peaceful.

Tea Time
From a photo I took of my own hands pouring from one cup to the other, I used Painter to transform in to a oil pastel painting. I began playing around with oil pastels in Painter a few months ago. I had seen other paintings with this technique and I really loved it. So, when I had time on my hands, which is rare, I decided to play. I started with this painting. I had no idea I'd like it enough to post in the gallery. But, here it is. I just love oil pastel painting!

A lot of times as an artist, I'm never thoroughly satisfied with my piece. Sometimes, when I think it's trash, it grows on me somehow. In any case, who knows who will like your work. So, share it anyways!

From my Flower Collection
From the photo, again, I used oil pastels and other effects in Painter & Photoshop. Pretty much every art student grew sick of painting flowers, but I still get so much satisfaction from it. Maybe because I didn't go to art school.

Flowers have so many textures and dimensions that for me, I'll be painting them for a long, long time to try to get it right. I also used a feathering effect around the edges in Photoshop for a softness because flowers should depict delicacy.
