Eureka! I just completed 1 out of the 2 Exhibits I'm working on for year end 2008. The first exhibit is entitled, "Something Pretty to Look At". I named it this because lately I had been feeling down about a lot of things in the world...I don't want to name them all but with the war, the economy, the increase in crime, people losing their livelihoods in storms, it seems grim all around with no hope. But then I have my faith in God which in unwavering, still I'm human. I feel pain too. I needed something to remind me that there is hope, love, joy, and victory. This creation helps me to see that I have a purpose in this life. As an artist, I have an enormous responsibility—to share my gift with others. To express myself in a way that edifies rather than tear down others. I like to inspire, to uplift, to encourage - there's plenty of bad advice, people who are out for themselves without mercy, sicknesses that grab hold and won't seem to let go...it's time to bring back joy. There's victory in this life.

I look to other artists sometimes for inspiration. But I'm learning to look for it in the oddest of places...in trials and tribulations. Oftentimes, in the midst of our storms, there is a light at the end. It's up to us to seek it out and follow it. God wants us to try to stay positive, He knows we have weaknesses. He doesn't expect you'll get it right everyday. But, He does want us to do our very best. I know that when I created this exhibit, I thought..."I want others to get what I'm trying to say...", but the reality is, not everyone will. I can only hope that as I plant a seed, it will grow on good ground and maybe a few will look at this exhibit and know...there is a beauty out there and it's worth seeking out.
