Personal History .:

Career:
I began my professional career working for AccuStaff Incorporated/Modis Professional Services supporting many departments doing graphic design and production work. I designed newsletters, flyers, ads, postcards, and presentations.  hile employed there, I studied under two experienced graphic design mentors who successfully prepared me to become a professional freelance designer. Little did I know how that training would be used, because soon after that, my department was severely downsized and I found myself searching for other employment.

January 1999:
I had thought about seriously working from home for myself for a long time, but had very little capital. I spent a lot of time in prayer and my dream was soon a reality. I was able to service several of my ex-coworkers from my department at AccuStaff who were now freelancing and because I had worked with them before, it was easy for them to use my services and recommend me to other companies.  Also, I had maxed out my severance which I used to get me started. Since then, I have operated my art gallery from my home office.

Art History:
After opening my own business, I realized how much I missed my art and in 2001 I created Kim's Art Gallery just to showcase my work but necessarily to try to sell, though I do photo/art transformation for clients.

Art Inspiration:
I like to use many of my husband's stock photos as my canvas. My inspirations come from his
photos of nature, skies, scenics, even wildlife. I love color and the outdoors so those two elements that are always in the back of my mind when I'm painting. Sometimes, I'll either create a painting entirely from or take elements from several photos to complete a piece.

When I created my 3D collection, I took my inspirations from shows like: Star Trek and Star Wars because I love both sci-fi epics.
My abstract collection comes completely from images in my mind or from chapters in my life. Sometimes, I find myself traveling to places in my mind that scream of peace and tranquility. In life, I truly believe in God and pray daily.

Peace is something I seek daily with the Lord and so I want my artwork to portray my desire of everlasting joy and fulfillment.

Poetry Inspiration:
I've been writing poetry since I could walk practically. Many of my early writings however are lost (that pains me), but no matter because I get such inspiration from my life's journey that creating new poems is not hard but in fact a joy. You can read a lot of my work right here on the site.
